Stop the Murder and Hatred

By Joseph Farah - March 18, 2002
It's time for a zero-tolerance policy on murder, terrorism and hatred in the Mideast.

The charade of Yasser Arafat as peacemaker is over.

It's no longer a matter of Arafat saying one thing and doing another. His evil words and deeds now match one another.

Last week, for instance, Arafat's "Voice of Palestine" Radio referred to the March 9 suicide bombing in a Jerusalem restaurant and massacre at a Netanya tourist hotel as part of the boss' "heroic martyrdom operations." In the first attack, 10 Israelis were killed. In the second, three Israelis, including an infant, were shot dead.

Americans can no longer pretend Arafat's war against Israel is somehow disconnected from Osama bin Laden's terror campaign against the U.S., either. It is one in the same struggle, as even a cursory perusal of Arafat's Fatah website shows.

"American imperialism is set to cause chaos again in 2002," blares one editorial. Another promotes the pro-Taliban, anti-American party line. Always Washington and Jerusalem are linked. "We look forward to a new world order that is free from the hegemony of the U.S., the new Rome," holds another editorial.

Understand that Fatah is Arafat's own creation. It is the faction within the Palestine Liberation Organization from which he ascends to leadership. And the U.S. bankrolls Arafat to the tune of $100 million a year.

That's a nice way to thank the U.S., isn't it?

Then, of course, there are our other "friends" – the Saudis.

In an article published by the Saudi government daily, Al-Riyadh, columnist Umayma Ahmad Al-Jalahma of King Faysal University in Al-Dammam, wrote on "The Jewish Holiday of Purim" a viciously anti-semitic screed raising the ancient libel that Jews drink blood as part of their religious rites.

"I chose to [speak] about the Jewish holiday of Purim, because it is connected to the month of March. This holiday has some dangerous customs that will, no doubt, horrify you, and I apologize if any reader is harmed because of this," he wrote in the official government newspaper.

"During this holiday, the Jew must prepare very special pastries, the filling of which is not only costly and rare – it cannot be found at all on the local and international markets. Unfortunately, this filling cannot be left out, or substituted with any alternative serving the same purpose. For this holiday, the Jewish people must obtain human blood so that their clerics can prepare the holiday pastries. In other words, the practice cannot be carried out as required if human blood is not spilled!!

"Before I go into the details, I would like to clarify that the Jews' spilling human blood to prepare pastry for their holidays is a well-established fact, historically and legally, all throughout history. This was one of the main reasons for the persecution and exile that were their lot in Europe and Asia at various times.

"This holiday [Purim] begins with a fast, on March 13, like the Jewess Esther who vowed to fast. The holiday continues on March 14; during the holiday, the Jews wear carnival-style masks and costumes and overindulge in drinking alcohol, prostitution, and adultery. This holiday has become known among Muslim historians as the 'Holiday of Masks.'"

The article goes on to describe how the Jews drain the blood from their young victims and the pleasure these "Jewish vampires" derive from these actions.

Remember, these are the same Saudis who have come up with the latest "peace plan" for the Middle East. These are the same Saudis who accept no responsibility for their home-grown terrorist bin Laden. These are the same Saudis who deny that most of the hijackers who victimized America on Sept. 11 were Saudi citizens.

That's why it's time to call a halt to the charade.

There are no peacemakers in power in the Arab world. To pretend there are is to continue living in fantasy.

Israelis are waking up – late, I might add, but they are waking up.

Why aren't Americans?

Why do the leaders in Washington continue to subsidize terrorism against Israel even while they are conducting their own war against terrorism in Afghanistan? Why does Washington hold one standard for itself and another for Israel? Why does Washington intuitively understand the only reasonable response to murder and mayhem in the United States is overwhelming force while demanding Israel show restraint in the face of such overt hostility and violence?
