Senior PA Negotiator Sees Jerusalem as Palestine's Capital
(IsraelWire-9/8) Speaking at a Ramallah press conference on
Tuesday, senior PLO Authority (PA) negotiator Saeb Erekat
stated that he hoped by the September 12, 2000 date by which
the current process is to be completed, Israel would agree to
eastern Jerusalem serving as the capital of a Palestinian state.
As both sides prepare to enter into the final status negotiations,
the senior PA negotiator explained that following the final Israeli
withdrawals as stipulated in the Wye-2 Agreement; the PA would
not accept anything less than a state which would encompass all
of Judea, Samaria and Gaza.
