I will bless those that bless thee - Genesis 12:3
In spite of what Jews and governments the world over, including Israel, are saying, we are not in the "post-Zionist" era. Israel's government, and the majority of its people, is in unbelief, and not for the first time in the nation's history either.
We might be surprised (as Christian-Zionists who believe and support modern physical Israel as a partial Biblical fulfilment) in this turn of events, but God is not. Listen to Isaiah who prophesied about 750 BC, even prior to the destruction of the northern ten tribes then called "Israel":
"this is a rebellious people.. .who will not hear the law of the Lord; who say to the seers, 'Do not see', and to the prophets, 'Do not prophesy to us right things; speak to us smooth things, prophesy deceits
“Get out of the way, Turn aside from the path (Torah), Cause the Holy One to cease from before us." Isaiah 30:9-11
God's reaction then was twofold: Firstly, "Because you despise this word,.. .and rely on them (foreigners).. .He shall break it like a potter's vessel.. in pieces. He shall not spare" Isaiah 30:12
Nevertheless, Secondly, For thus says the LORD GOD, the Holy One of Israel, "In returning and rest you shall be saved; in quietness and confidence shall be your strength, but you would not" Isaiah 30:15
"THEREFORE the Lord will wait, that He may be gracious unto you; and therefore He will be exalted, that He may have mercy on you. For the people shall dwell in Zion at Jerusalem; You shall weep no more.. And though the LORD give you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction.. .Your ears shall hear a word behind you, saying, "This is the way, walk in it." Isaiah 30:18-21
Again, later in their history, under the Judges, I Samuel 8:5-7,
"Make for us a king to judge us like all the (other) nations"
God's reply to Samuel: "Heed the voice of the people.. for they have not rejected you, but they have rejected ME, that I should not reign over them. Nevertheless the people refused to obey.. and said, "No, but we will have a king over us, that we may also be like all the nations, and that our king may judge us and go out before us and fight our battles."I Samuel 8:19
We as Christians, like, Israel, will be judged by the Word of God; and we must remember that the love of God is not "sloppy agape", but tough love.. for our own good.
Reading the articles that follow, especially "ISRAEL'S FUTURE.. AS SEEN BY YASSER AND SHIMON" and "OVERVIEW"by Shifra Hoffman with this scriptural analysis in mind confirm our conviction that Israel's present government is bringing disaster not blessing to the nation.
Previous governments were not perfect, but men like Menachem Begin and Itzak Shamir acknowledged the God of Israel, and the word of God; prayed and read it daily, waiting and hoping for Israel's Redeemer, as best they knew how.
