Whose Jerusalem ?
Whose Land ?
The Hanukkah Event of the Temple Mount Faithful on the Temple Mount, Jerusalem and the Tombs of the Maccabees27th December 2000
On the 27th December 2000, at a very critical time in the history of Israel, The Temple Mount and Land of Israel Faithful Movement marched from the tombs of the Maccabees in Modi'in to Biblical Jerusalem and the Temple Mount. Together with them were many Israelis and visitors from outside Israel.
The date of the march was not an accident. The march was held on the same day that President Clinton asked Prime Minister Barak to give him an answer regarding his proposals to give the Temple Mount, most of Biblical Jerusalem and 95% of Judea, Samaria and Gaza to the "Palestinian Authority". I am sure that G-d chose this day for the march to be held to give Clinton and the terrorist, Arafat, the following godly message concerning their evil and anti-godly plans for Israel: "This is the word that the Lord has spoken concerning him; The virgin the daughter of Zion despises you, and laughs at you with scorn; the daughter of Jerusalem has shaken her head at you. Whom have you taunted and blasphemed? and against whom have you exalted your voice, and lifted up your eyes on high? Against the Holy One of Israel. By your messengers you have taunted the Lord, and have said, With the multitude of my chariots I have come up to the height of the mountains, to the sides of Lebanon, and will cut down their tall cedar trees, and their choice cypresses; and I will enter into its farthest lodges, and into the forest of his Carmel. I have dug and drunk strange waters, and with the sole of my feet have I dried up all the canals of Mazor. Have you not heard long ago how I have done it, and of ancient times that I have formed it? Now have I brought it to pass, that fortified cities should be laid waste into ruinous heaps. Therefore their inhabitants were of small power, they were dismayed and confounded; they were as the grass of the field, and as the green herb, as the grass on the house tops, and as grain blasted before it has grown up. But I know your abode, and your going out, and your coming in, and your rage against me. Because your rage against me and your arrogance has come into my ears, therefore I will put my hook in your nose, and my bridle in your lips, and I will turn you back by the way by which you came. And this shall be a sign to you, you shall eat this year such things as grow of themselves, and in the second year that which springs of the same; and in the third year sow, and reap, and plant vineyards, and eat their fruits. And the remnant that is escaped of the house of Judah shall yet again take root downward, and bear fruit upward. For from Jerusalem shall go out a remnant, and they who escape from Mount Zion; the zeal of the Lord of hosts shall do this. ... By the way that he came, by the same shall he return, and shall not come into this city, said the Lord. For I will defend this city, to save it, for my own sake, and for my servant David's sake." (2Kings19:21-31,33,34)
This godly message was sent by the Temple Mount Faithful from the tombs of the Maccabees and Jerusalem to Clinton and the terrorist, Arafat, as well as the godly message which Nehemiah gave when the Arabs in his time tried to take Jerusalem from the Israelites and he answered them in the name of the G-d of Israel: "Then I answered them, and said to them: The God of heaven will make us prosper, and we his servants will arise and build; but you have no portion, no right, no memorial, in Jerusalem." (Nehemiah2:20)
In front of the Temple Mount we sent to these two evil persons who are trying to revolt against the G-d of Israel and fight against the people of Israel and to take away from them the holy Temple Mount Jerusalem and the land of Israel that G-d gave to Israel in an eternal covenant and for Himself to dwell there amongst His people, Israel, the following godly message: "After these things the word of the Lord came to Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram; I am your shield, and your reward will be great. ... In the same day the Lord made a covenant with Abram, saying, To your seed have I given this land, from the river of Egypt to the great river, the river Euphrates;" (Genesis15:1,18)
It was in the early morning when the Faithful stood in front of the tombs of the Maccabees in Modi'in, the place from where the Maccabees started their revolt against the foreigners who took Jerusalem, the Temple Mount and Israel from them and accomplished their heroic and miraculous revolt of a small minority against a great majority and purified the Temple, Jerusalem and the land from the pagan foreigners. We stood in front of their spirit with a great belief in the G-d of Israel and His miracles with His people. We decided to take their spirit and bring it to the Temple Mount and Jerusalem and spread it all over the land and the people of Israel. We prayed and read the message from the Book of Maccabees to all the coming generations and mainly the answer of Shimon the Maccabee to the foreign ruler who asked him to return to him the land which the Maccabees had liberated: "We did not liberate a foreign land but the land which G-d, the Creator of the World, gave to our forefathers and us in an eternal covenant and at one time was taken from us by you. Now G-d has given it back to us and you have no part in it." This is the message to all the enemies of Israel and their allies all over the world who are now trying to again take away the Temple Mount, Jerusalem and the land of Israel from the G-d and people of Israel.
It was an exciting moment when we lit the Hanukkah menorah from the torch of the Maccabees and the youth started to run with the torch on the mountains to Beth Horon on the way to Jerusalem to bring the light and spirit of the Maccabees to the Temple Mount and Jerusalem. We passed the tomb of the prophet Samuel who, in the Name of G-d, anointed the Messiah of Israel, King David who liberated the Temple Mount and Jerusalem and dedicated it to be the house and capital of the G-d and people of Israel. We prayed and asked G-d to again send King David to us to save Israel from all its enemies and to liberate the Temple Mount, Jerusalem and land of Israel exactly as he did in his time.
Later we came to Biblical Jerusalem. At the Jaffa Gate we swore faithfulness to Jerusalem exactly as our forefathers did in their time in a critical era. "If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. If I do not remember you, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy." (Psalms137:5,6) Then we put the godly blue and white flag of Israel in the middle of the Jaffa Gate plaza and the youth tore up the flag of the terrorists from the PLO and swore that this anti-godly flag will never fly over Jerusalem and that a foreign anti-godly terrorist state will never exist in the holy land of the G-d and people of Israel. We called on Prime Minister Barak and his government to immediately reject the evil suggestion of President Clinton and to accept only the covenant of G-d and His Word to Israel.
Then we marched through the narrow streets of the Old City to the Temple Mount singing and praying Psalm 122: "A Song of Maalot of David. I was glad when they said to me, Let us go into the house of the Lord. Our feet shall stand inside your gates, O Jerusalem. Jerusalem is built as a city which is bound firmly together; There the tribes go up, the tribes of the Lord, as was decreed for Israel, to give thanks to the name of the Lord. For thrones of judgment were set there, the thrones of the house of David. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem; those who love you shall prosper. Peace be within your walls, and prosperity within your palaces. For my brothers and companions' sakes, I will now say, Peace be within you. Because of the house of the Lord our God I will seek your good."
The climax of this important and exciting event was when we arrived at the Temple Mount, the holy hill of G-d which over the last 4,000 years was, is and will always be the heart, soul and focus of the G-d and people of Israel. But it was so sad to see the holy hill desecrated by the foreigners -- the pagan Arab Moslems who continue their presence on the holy hill of G-d and Israel because of the weakness of Prime Minister Barak and his government. Because of their weakness and fear of an Arab riot and under the pressure of Clinton and the nations of the world they closed the gates of the Temple Mount to the marchers and the torch and menorah of the Maccabees. They did not fear the Word of G-d and did not trust His promises to protect Israel from all her enemies all over the world. They preferred the evil word of Clinton instead of the Word of the G-d of Israel that if they or all the world want it or not, only it will be fulfilled: "The word that Isaiah the son of Amoz saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem. And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain of the Lord's house shall be established on the top of the mountains, and shall be exalted above the hills; and all nations shall flow to it. And many people shall go and say, Come, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths; for from Zion shall go forth Torah, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem. And he shall judge among the nations, and shall decide for many people; and they shall beat their swords into plowshares, and their spears into pruning hooks; nation shall not lift up sword against nation, nor shall they learn war any more. O house of Jacob, come, and let us walk in the light of the Lord." (Isaiah2:1-5) In front of the Temple Mount we knew so clearly and trusted G-d and His promises that only this Word of G-d can and will be fulfilled in our lifetime, the end-times in which we are now living, and no other evil plans of those who are trying to stop this great dream and vision of the G-d of Israel.
The closed gates of the Temple Mount and the current critical situation broke the hearts of the many Israelis who marched all the way to the Temple Mount with such great hope. They started to run to the gates to open them before the G-d of Israel and to hold the Temple Mount with all their heart, soul and strength and not to leave it. Unfortunately the Israeli Police prevented them from doing this. All of the marchers sat on the holy ground and put sackcloth on their bodies as in mourning. We swore faithfulness to the Temple Mount never to leave it or to move from this place until it is liberated and purified. We read and prayed Psalm 13: "By the rivers of Babylon, there we sat down, we also wept, when we remembered Zion. We hung our lyres on the willows in its midst. For there those who carried us away captive required of us a song; and those who tormented us required of us mirth, saying, Sing us one of the songs of Zion. How shall we sing the Lord's song in a foreign land? If I forget you, O Jerusalem, let my right hand forget her cunning. If I do not remember you, let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth; if I do not set Jerusalem above my highest joy. Remember, O Lord, against the Edomites, the day of Jerusalem; who said, Raze it, raze it, to its foundation. O daughter of Babylon, you are to be destroyed! Happy shall he be, who repays you for what you have done to us! Happy shall he be, who takes your little ones and dashes them against the rock!" We swore that we will sacrifice our lives like King David to liberate, purify and rebuild the house of G-d, not as a distant vision but as a present project. We prayed Psalm 132: "A Song of Maalot. Lord, remember in David's favour all his afflictions; How he swore to the Lord, and vowed to the mighty God of Jacob; Surely I will not come into the tent of my house, nor get into my bed; I will not give sleep to my eyes, or slumber to my eyelids, Until I find out a place for the Lord, a habitation for the mighty One of Jacob. Behold, we heard of it at Ephratah; we found it in the fields of Jaar; We will go into his dwelling places; we will worship at his footstool. Arise, O Lord, and go to your resting place; you, and the ark of your might. Let your priests be clothed with righteousness; and let your pious ones shout for joy. For your servant David's sake do not turn away the face of your anointed. The Lord has sworn in truth to David; he will not turn from it; One of the sons of your body I will set on your throne. If your children will keep my covenant and my testimony that I shall teach them, their children shall also sit upon your throne for evermore. For the Lord has chosen Zion; he has desired it for his habitation. This is my resting place for ever; here I will dwell; for I have desired it. I will abundantly bless her provision; I will satisfy her poor with bread. I will also clothe her priests with salvation; and her pious ones shall shout aloud for joy. There I will make the horn of David bud; I have prepared a lamp for my anointed. His enemies I will clothe with shame; but upon himself his crown shall flourish."
We sat on the ground in this fashion for many hours calling on the Israeli Government to trust the G-d of Israel to re-liberate the Temple Mount, all Jerusalem and the land of Israel; to purify it; to prepare it for the G-d of Israel and the Universe to dwell there; and to immediately rebuild His house on the Temple Mount. To Clinton, to the terrorist Arafat, and all their allies we sent the Word of the G-d of Israel through His prophet Zechariah: "The burden of the word of the Lord concerning Israel, says the Lord, who stretches out the heavens, and lays the foundation of the earth, and forms the spirit of man inside him. Behold, I will make Jerusalem a cup of reeling to all the people around, and it shall also be against Judah in the siege against Jerusalem. And on that day I will make Jerusalem a burdensome stone for all the peoples; all who burden themselves with it shall be grievously hurt. And all the peoples of the earth shall be gathered together against it. ... And it shall come to pass on that day, that I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour upon the house of David, and upon the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the spirit of grace and of supplication; and they shall look towards me, regarding those whom the nations have pierced; and they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only son, and shall be in bitterness over him, as one who is in bitterness for his firstborn. ... Then shall the Lord go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. And the Lord shall be king over all the earth; on that day the Lord shall be one, and his name one. All the land shall be changed like the Arabah from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem; and she shall be lifted up, and remain in her place, from the Gate of Benjamin to the place of the first gate, to the Corner Gate, and from the Tower of Hananeel to the king's wine presses. And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall dwell secure. ... And every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be sacred to the Lord of hosts; and all those who sacrifice shall come and take of them, and cook in them; and on that day there shall not be merchants any more in the house of the Lord of hosts." (Zechariah12:1-3,9,10;14:3,9,11,21)
This godly event ended close to the evening with the exciting national anthem of Israel, Ha Tikvah - The Hope:
"As long as a Jewish heart beats and as long as Jewish eyes look Eastward,
Then our two-thousand year hope to be a free nation in Zion and Jerusalem not lost."
The spirit of the Word of the G-d of Israel through Zechariah that we read and prayed in front of the Temple Mount continues to cover the Temple Mount and Jerusalem until this moment: "Again the word of the Lord of hosts came to me, saying, Thus says the Lord of hosts; I was zealous for Zion with great zeal, and I was zealous for her with great fury. Thus says the Lord: I have returned to Zion, and will dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and Jerusalem shall be called the City of Truth; and the mountain of the Lord of hosts the Holy Mountain. Thus says the Lord of hosts: Old men and old women shall again dwell in the streets of Jerusalem, and every man with his staff in his hand for the fullness of days. And the streets of the city shall be full of boys and girls playing in its streets. Thus says the Lord of hosts: If it is marvellous in the eyes of the remnant of this people in these days, should it also be marvellous in my eyes? says the Lord of hosts. Thus says the Lord of hosts: Behold, I will save my people from the east country, and from the west country; And I will bring them, and they shall dwell in the midst of Jerusalem; and they shall be my people, and I will be their God, in truth and in righteousness. Thus says the Lord of hosts: Let your hands be strong, you who hear in these days these words by the mouth of the prophets, who spoke on the day that the foundation of the house of the Lord of hosts was laid, saying that the temple might be built." (Zechariah8:1-9)
In the G-d of Israel we trust.
